Bio

A Renaissance woman at heart, Miranda Yung is not only a festival award-winning Latina filmmaker, but an artist of many talents, including fine art, dance, acting and writing.

Her filmmaking career launched during her undergraduate studies at the University of

North Texas. It was here that Miranda produced a diverse filmography with multiple festival recognitions through her dedicated involvement with the university’s Short Film Club. Most notably are the recognitions for her #MeToo movement short film, “What Happened to Alice”, which received an Award of Excellence for Student Narrative Video at the 2017 Broadcast Education Association’s Festival of Media Arts. Additionally, other festival recognitions were received for Miranda’s work as a writer, producer, editor and production designer.

In the Spring of 2017, Miranda received a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television and Film with a Minor in Theatre from the University of North Texas. Afterward, she continued her pursuit of academic filmmaking practice and knowledge through her graduate studies at Emerson College, taking special interest in music video production, motion graphic animation and dance film. During this time of artistic growth and experimentation, Miranda also expanded her professional portfolio and experience working as an Associate Creative Producer and key Editor at Emerson Productions.

In the Winter of 2021, Miranda successfully earned a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Media Art from Emerson College with her one-of-a-kind thesis film, "Hide and Seek". Having written, directed and edited the film, this visual mixtape is the ultimate culmination of Miranda’s artistic voice as well as her first true attempt at using her artistic talents and passion for storytelling to ruminate on the human condition and inspire betterment and healing in society.

Currently, Miranda has been professionally dedicating herself to this practice of

making film for a better world as a documentary film fellow at Upstander Project alongside the Emmy award-winning creators of Dawnland (2018) and the Reciprocity Project (2021). Acting on her great passion for storytelling and dedication to serving her community, she aspires to become a creative leader in writing, producing and directing culturally-responsible films for the good of humanity.
